Happy Holidays from the NCAA NEXT Team!
We are excited to release the latest v15.4 NEXT Update with a few major upgrades for your playing pleasure!
Improved Simulation Statistics
We've discovered the region in the game where simulation methods are stored and figured out how to crack the code to update the statistical distribution for each offense passing and rushing scheme! This has resulted in much more realistic simulation data compared to the modern college football game.
Improved In-Game Fatigue System
We've discovered how to increase fatigue during gameplay. One of the things we've heard from the community and within our team is that Auto Subs NEVER WORK when playing in lower levels than Heisman difficulty levels. This update increases All-American fatigue system to the Heisman-level, and bumps the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels to the original All-American fatigue levels. This change does not affect other parts of the game difficulty, but should make fatigue count more.
As a reminder, to increase the auto-sub frequency, go to the Controller Settings in the game menu to change the Sub In and Sub Out values!
We also have attempted to make CPU teams sub in and out players more often too.
Dynamic Television Broadcasts
We've figured out a crafty way of dynamically picking different broadcast logos depending on who is playing in the game! The media rights partners were chosen based on real-life affiliations, and each conference has two regular season broadcasters and another one for their Championship game. Each bowl game and the playoffs will also have their own custom logos.
How are broadcasters chosen? Generally speaking, it will default to the 2nd tier media rights partner. For example, Big Ten games will be on Big Ten Network. If one of the teams is ranked, then it'll promote to the first tier network! Finally, this is primarily based on the home team's conference affiliation.
Here's some examples of the different broadcast logos available.
City & State-Based Weather Updates
We decided to figure out how the weather system works in the game and then pulled real-world data from the US NOAA and other sites to determine the amount of rain, snow, windy and "fair-weather" days there are in every state, and then pulled the average daily temperature at the beginning of September and mid-January of each college town in FBS and created a global weather system to import into the game database!
This will be immediately available for new dynasties. If you are already mid-way through your dynasty, you can use the latest NCAA Database Editor to open up your Dynasty Save file, and Import the Global Data in the brand-new Stadium Editor tab!
Bug-Fixes
Unfortunately we did find some bugs from the last release and have fixed most all of them. These include:
- Fixed a bug caused by the new Bowl Game Opt-Out feature that crashed loading bowl games if the user did not save and reload first. This is no longer an issue
- Fixed a bug where Rank Displays may show the last place team at the end of the season
- We also had to remove the "Auto-Depth Chart" button we added in the last version. This was causing a bunch of problems unfortunately.
- Some recruits display a "DNQ" (Did Not Qualify) tag next to their name after recruiting is over, but they are actually still on a roster. We fixed it so this does not show up anymore.
- We also discovered the Create-A-School feature in the game assigns some teams to a Team ID (TGID) of 0. This may cause problems later in dynasties, so we removed the possibility of this occurring.
